Professional Learning Facilitator
Brittani Whary learned a lot about differentiation and trying new things in the classroom while teaching four subjects within her first three years of teaching. Hired as a full-time gifted teacher fresh out of college, she exercised her quick-thinking and creativity to build a fulfilling program for jaded students who went from a strong middle school program to almost nothing in High School. During her first year, her program was audited and recognized by the state as one that could be used as an example for other districts. She was then also asked to teach Spanish 2 while running her full time program and managing a caseload of 60 GIEPs. At the end of that year, she found herself furloughed and moved to a different district to teach ESL and Spanish 1. Her last four years of teaching were spent as a Middle School Language Arts teacher. Although she had her certification in English, she had majored in Spanish in college, so in an effort to be the most prepared she could be, Brittani continued her education by earning a Teaching Writing and Literacy certificate at Penn State Lehigh Valley, and became a National Writing Fellow through the Writing Project.
During her tenure as an English teacher, she also participated in the Differentiated Instruction Professional Learning with Dr. Pete Grande and continued to embrace her passion of lifelong learning. She has since taken a few years off to raise her children, but has worked as a substitute and an adult educator at LCCC in the Community Ed department intermittently, teaching Spanish to adult learners. She has always had a passion for adult learners and believes that we can all learn something new and better ourselves at any point throughout our lives. At least that’s what she tells herself in her desire to master baking macarons.
Brittani received her BS from Kutztown University and completed additional post Bacc work at Millersville and Penn State Lehigh Valley. She lives in Montgomery County with her husband and their three children.
